چکیده

We describe an experimental technique for generating a quasi-monochromatic field with any arbitrary spatial coherence properties that can be described by the cross-spectral density function, W r1; r2 . This is done by using a dynamic binary amplitude grating generated by a digital micromirror device to rapidly alternate between a set of coherent fields, creating an incoherent mix of modes that represent the coherent mode decomposition of the desired W r1; r2 . This method was then demonstrated experimentally by interfering two plane waves and then spatially varying the coherence between them. It is then shown that this creates an interference pattern between the two beams whose fringe visibility varies spatially in an arbitrary and prescribed way. © 2014 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (030.0030) Coherence and statistical optics; (030.1640) Coherence; (030.4070) Modes; (090.1760) Computer holography; (050.1970) Diffractive optics; (070.6120) Spatial light modulators. http://dx.doi.org/10.1364/JOSAB.31.000A51

Simulating fields of arbitrary spatial and temporal coherence.

Optical coherence theory typically deals with the average properties of randomly fluctuating fields. However, in some circumstances the averaging process can mask important physical aspects of the field propagation. We derive a new method of simulating partially coherent fields of nearly arbitrary spatial and temporal coherence. These simulations produce the expected coherence properties when a...

The Application of Multi-Layer Artificial Neural Networks in Speckle Reduction (Methodology)

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) uses the spatial and temporal coherence properties of optical waves backscattered from a tissue sample to form an image. An inherent characteristic of coherent imaging is the presence of speckle noise. In this study we use a new ensemble framework which is a combination of several Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) neural networks to denoise OCT images. The noise is...

Generation of femtosecond paraxial beams with arbitrary spatial distribution.

We present an approach to generate paraxial laser beams with arbitrary spatial distribution in the femtosecond time regime. The proposed technique is based upon a pair of volume phase holographic gratings working in parallel arrangement. It exploits the spatial coherence properties of the incoming laser beam in a compact and robust setup that mitigates angular and spatial chirp. The gratings we...

Optical klystron FEL scheme for x-ray coherent harmonic generation at ISLF storage ring

The possibility of inserting an optical klystron on the storage ring of an Iranian Light Source Facility as a Synchrotron Radiation Free electron Laser for coherence harmonic generation in the soft x-ray spectrum has been studied. The study has been performed using the 3D FEL simulation code GENESIS 1.3 and in accordance with the available characteristic parameters of ISLF. Different potential ...

Impacts of Nanoparticles and Nano Rod Arrays on Optical Generation Rate in Plasmonic-Based Solar Cells

In this article, the effect of plasmonics properties of metal nanorods and nanoparticles on solar cell performance were investigated and simulated. Due to the classic solar cell disadvantages, it seems that a plasmonic solar cell is one of these methods. In plasmonic solar cells, because of plasmonic effect, a high electric field builds around metal nanoparticles so that high conversion efficie...
